We are looking for a kitchen assistant to help our kitchen run smoothly and support our catering team in delivering tasty and nutritious meals for our customers.

With a busy 2026 season upon us we require a hardworking, reliable person to join our friendly and talented Catering team.

Qualifications are not essential but experience of working in a kitchen environment would be a benefit.

High standards of cleanliness and delivering excellent customer service are essential skills.

You will be required to work shifts (morning shifts start at 7:00am and evening shifts finish at about 8:00pm)

32 hours over seven days, usually Monday to Friday.

Flexibility is required –  with some weekend working required especially during summer camps in July and August.

Beginning end of January until late November 2026 and opportunity to return in 2027.

We would be happy to train you throughout the year if you are looking to become a chef.

Salary: £20,317.44 pro rata.

Housekeeping Assistant

Housekeeping Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated and reliable housekeeper to join our friendly team at Mill on the Brue. We welcome groups of all ages for outdoor learning and we need someone like you to help keep everything clean, safe and homely.

The work can be fast paced, very busy, and due to the nature of the site, involves lots of stairs, the ability to cope with this on a daily basis is essential. Hours will vary according to business needs so candidates need to be flexible and prepared to work occasional  evenings and weekends.

We have 120 beds over three accommodation blocks with an additional 60 camping beds from May until September.  We work mainly with primary schools and during the summer have unaccompanied children visiting for summer camps.

Applicants should have experience of working in a small close-knit team, ability to problem solve, work to a tight schedule and be able to work to the high standards of housekeeping Mill on the Brue expects, we are looking for someone with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Duties will include laundry, bedroom changeovers, cleaning of bathrooms, cleaning of all public areas and offices.

We do not use chemicals anywhere on site.

Mill on the Brue is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults and expects staff and volunteers to share that commitment. An enhanced disclosure barring check will be sought in relation to the successful applicant for this post. This will be shared with Personnel and may also be shared with the Directors.

Outdoor Activity Instructors – SEASONAL

Seasonal Outdoor Instructor Job 

We are looking for outstanding, enthusiastic, energetic and inspiring Instructors to join our team.

We want you to have a great experience with us and develop in your role with regular training opportunities and support in gaining NGB awards.

Seasonal Full time starts for 18 – 19 years olds at £19,760.

For 20 years and upwards it is £24,127 per annum pro-rata in line with National Minimum Wage.

We offer an Incentive scheme that will pay you £55 for each of the following qualifications:

BCU Paddlesport Instructor PSI
Archery GB /GNAS
Bushcraft -L1 L2
Ropes: RCI, SPA
Hillwalking: ML Summer/Lowland
NRSA

For example, if you hold two of these qualifications, you would be paid £110 each month till the end of the season.

The Retention scheme: for people who are contracted from February – November (only applicable after a completed probation period)
£78 per month to be paid with the last pay slip in November which is taxable.

You can potentially earn an extra:

£110 (2 quals) + £78 (retention) per month on top of your monthly wage.

Subsidised board and lodgings

Essential:

  • A current first aid certificate (min 8 hrs)
  • Some previous experience of instructing, teaching or coaching
  • Positive attitude

Desirable:

  • BCU Paddlesport Instructor PSI
  • High Ropes experience or qualifications,
  • Archery GB,
  • Bushcraft L1/L2,
  • Lifeguard,
  • Valid driving license

Group Leader – 6th July to 22nd August 2026

Are you looking for a fun summer job with young people?

Do you like working outdoors? Do you enjoy sport and outdoor activities? Do you like children? Then we have the perfect job for you.

You’ll be working in a team of like minded people and you’ll make friends for life.

Mill on the Brue started back in 1982 with the ethos of inspiring children to love the outdoors whilst providing fun challenges.  We still have at the heart of the programme the aim of ensuring the children have fun away from home whilst having a digital detox in an environmental setting.

We are ideally looking for a couple more female Group Leaders as we already have our quota of males, this is for seven weeks in July and August to assist with our summer camps 6th July – 10th July is a paid training week, 12th July – 22nd August are the summer camps.

If you have the following qualifications this will assist your application moving forward.

  • current first aid certificate
  • a pool lifeguard qualification.

Must be able to cope with a multi-level site and work outdoors in all weathers smiling….

Accommodation available.

Must be over 18 years of age.

Wage: National minimum wage based on your age, 38 hours per week.
