Read all about St-John our wonderful Environmental Instructor

St-John has embraced the role of Environmental Tutor wholeheartedly. Teaching children about the whole life cycle of a seed, to a vegetable, food on our table, food waste, the RIDAN or compost and back into earth. The children can explore planting and tasting, smelling and understanding the importance of eating homegrown food. He also teaches about sustainability here on site, solar panels, underground heat pump, our rain water harvester, the trees, shrubs and hedgerows we have planted and managed over the years and all about the flora and fauna around Mill on the Brue. He really is a natural and we are thrilled that the children and teachers alike love all his sessions.

These are St-Johns words:
Environmental Tutor at Mill on the Brue! It’s a busy and interesting job, full of loud noises, strong scents, and trying not to get sidetracked by cannibalism. It’s a grand old step into the field I’ve been aiming to enter for a long enough time – and not to toot my own horn too much, but I’m really quite good at it. My years of of talking loudly and excitedly about things that mostly interest me whilst shoving as many daft jokes in there as I possibly can have prepared me well!
