Giving a helping hand for a charity abseil
St. James’ Church, Milton Clevedon, a tiny hamlet near Evercreech, is a small church in need of annual funds to keep it running. The parishioners came up with the idea of a sponsored abseil down the tower and approached Mill on the Brue for the technical help.
The tower was deemed unsuitable, so a 100 foot drop at Split Rock near Wookey Hole was suggested; last Sunday 15 intrepid abseilers all completed the abseil with Mill on the Brue staff Mike Clapham and Sean .
Tessa Calver from Milton Clevedon, who organised the abseil, is delighted to report that over £1500 has been raised in sponsorship, and that it was a most enjoyable afternoon with tea and cakes for participants and supporters. A great achievement for all.
