30th celebration photos
Over 90 guests attended the celebration lunch and a further 160 guests for the evening party – including Brutonians who had helped us over the last 30 years, ex-staff, children (now a bit older) & school staff.
MoB 30th party Saturday 29th September
Thank you to everyone who came to our lunch on Saturday, it was lovely to see many faces from far and wide. Simon and his catering team provided a delicious lunch sourced from our gardens and other local producers. We washed the meal down with our own wine, Trendle Trail, before having our ice cream pudding directly from Marshfield Dairy served in the sunshine under the copper beech tree.
We also launched the charity The Tony Trust, in memory of Tony Rawlingson Plant. The aim of the charity is to extend opportunities for children and young people unable to afford an outdoor experience at a residential outdoor centre. Later on Saturday we welcomed many ex-staff, their children and partners and friends of Mill on the Brue to our barn dance party. We had lots of things to do for a wide range of ages and abilities including a soft play area in the Longhouse, mini quad bikes for the slightly older kids and for the really big ones an afternoon of laser quest which was much enjoyed, before heading up to the marquee on the Longhouse lawn for a delicious hog roast.
Lots of dancing to Tease the Cat barn dance band then ensued which warmed us all up as a full moon had bought an autumn chill to Somerset. We all had lots of fun chatting and catching up on news and the feel was of a very large family. Knowing that MoB still holds many fond memories for so people makes planning for the future even more worth while, while continuing to create a really positive experience for children and adults up for the rest of their lives.
